I’m Valerie, a wellness writer, meditation teacher, and spiritual warrior!
Sharing decades of wisdom in meditation, EFT (tapping), Ayurveda, manifestation, and self-care—plus my experience as a spa product reviewer—all wrapped up in a curiosity about what helps people thrive on a soul level.
Meet Val
I’ve spent years immersed in the wellness world...
Turning big ideas into simple, feel-good practices. From meditation to Ayurveda-inspired living, energy work, spa product reviews, and self-care rituals, I blend ancient wisdom with modern life.
When I am not blogging, writing an article, or reviewing a spa product...
I am running my editing site at The WriteEdit.com. I also freelance as a copyeditor for Hay House Publishing—the leader in self-help, wellness, and spirituality—so I know what it takes to deliver clear, compelling content that connects. My articles have appeared in Massage Magazine, The Writer, The Santa Fean, Bookmarks, and many more (see Published Works). I’ve worked at the world-renowned Japanese spa Ten Thousand Waves, studied at The Ayurvedic Institute, and hold a master’s degree in writing. My studies have led me to realize that wellness boils down to three things:

Emotions
Our emotions deeply influence our physical health, and until we address them, nothing will change in any meaningful way. This requires undoing harmful thought patterns surrounding our past experiences.

Energy
We are made up of energy, and lasting change must happen on an energetic level. Thoughts, deeds, and words all carry energy.

Beliefs
What we believe shapes our reality. Belief systems influence how we operate in the world. Studies have proven that a belief in something greater than ourselves serves not only as a comfort but also as a path toward greater overall wellness.

The Law of Attraction Brought Me My Home, My New Career, My Husband
I was using the Law of Attraction (LOA) before I even knew it had a name. I was living just outside Philadelphia, running my petsitting business. I loved the animals, but I knew I should be making

Why the Law of Attraction Isn’t Working: A 6-part series
The Law of Attraction is exciting because it holds the promise of realizing our greatest desires. We feel a thrill when something we’ve been wishing for manifests. But when it doesn’t happen, it’s helpful to examine why.

What Is EFT (Tapping)?
There are many websites that explain the basics of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), commonly known as tapping, so I’ll keep this part brief. EFT involves gently tapping on the same meridian points

What Do You Love?
Reducing our search for things we love to the simplest among them is surprisingly helpful when we need to lift our spirits. It lends the gentlest beam of light to an otherwise disheartened mood.

Is Manifestation Privileged? My Honest Opinion
Your mindset can open doors, but you still have to walk through them, and not everyone is standing in front of the same set of doors.

The Blessing of Pain
Some people say we experience pain, sadness, darkness, and loss so that we can recognize and appreciate their opposites—comfort, joy, light, and abundance.

Your Highest Self
The most meaningful question anyone has ever asked me was, “What would your higher self do?” It’s a familiar phrase, but at the time, it was new to me.

The Mystery of the Tao Te Ching
Of all the spiritual texts, I find the Tao Te Ching to be one of the most interesting, for three reasons: 1) It has so many translations; 2) It is a book based on something undefinable;

What Is No Longer Nourishing You?
So many meditation teachers encourage us to release by asking, “What is no longer serving you?” And it’s funny because, to aim for enlightenment, we are taught to serve others,

If your pain could speak, what would it say?
In John Barnes’s book Healing Ancient Wounds, there is a chapter called “If Your Tears Could Speak, What Would They Say?” That resonates with me, but I always want to change one word

What is Ayurveda, and do I need to follow it strictly?
Ayurveda is an ancient system of wellness that focuses on balance and self-awareness. It is based on your particular dosha, or body/mind constitution. I share Ayurveda-inspired ideas in a flexible, modern way. No strict rules or complicated routines are required.
